Lashings interested to tour Pakistan –Cricket News Update
The chairman of Lashings club, David Folb, has indicated his readiness to send his team to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, provided they get a formal invitation from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Folb, reportedly, is interested in helping the terrorism affected country to end their three year long international cricket drought, following a positive response by the PCB, which has shown eagerness in their pursuit of bringing back International cricket
to Pakistan.
According to sources, former Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084, is the man who has successfully convinced the UK based famous club to tour Pakistan.
“Rashid is a man who I have the utmost respect for and if he says it’s safe for us to travel there we’d be delighted to. We would be honoured to play there, if the Pakistan Cricket Board would have us,” said Folb.
However, the chairman of Lashings has urged the PCB to make a formal move in this regard as their club has to adhere to a tight scheduling in the coming months.
“Invitation from the PCB will be very exciting for us. We will personally love to bring our team to Pakistan but due to our tight schedule, starting from April 24th, the PCB should initiate the formal process at the earliest”, said Folb.
The PCB has been working rigorously in recent months in an attempt to restore international cricket on home soil. In this regard, the board is engaged with other cricket boards to send their team, most notably being the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board.
The proposed Bangladesh tour however, is looking uncertain at the moment, which has driven chairman PCB, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, to consider some other viable options including inviting a World XI.
Latif earlier claimed that he could arrange a World XI to tour Pakistan, provided the PCB was willing to bear all the expenses. The Board response was in the affirmative, where they extended its full support.
Pakistan has not hosted an international cricket match after the armed attack on Sri Lankan team in 2009. Several teams have refused to play in Pakistan due to security concerns, depriving the country from co-hosting the World Cup 2011.
