Hi I was wondering if it is now safe to get Lasik eye surgary my mom is afraid something may happen during the surgary. How does it feel and is there any side affects afterward. Also how do I convince my mom that it is saf. The job I am going to be working for needs me to have 20/20 vision. And also where is the safest place to do.

  1. No one will do Lasik on a 16 year old. Before they do Lasik, your prescription needs to be stable for several years. Your prescription usually will stabilize sometime in your 20's. The common side effects are dry eyes and night blindness but we don't know what the long term affects may be. How to convince your mom it's safe, well, I'm an optician, I can have it done free and won't do it, I'm easily corrected with glasses and contacts and I don't like the idea of not being able to see clearly driving at night, so I don't know how to convince your mom since no one has been able to convince me.

Best place to have it done- check with your local optometrists, they will tell you who has a good reputation in the optical community.

  2. Lasik surgery is the most popular and advance form of refractive surgery.  This is the fastest way for a much greater range of vision correction. Lasik attempts to endow a 20/20 vision if possible or near normal vision in patients with low or moderate ranges of myopia.  There is some negligible amount of risk involved in the process but it varies from patient to patient. The most common complications are dry eye syndrome, blurry or hazy vision, glares, haloes, starbursts and decreased night vision.

With the technological developments, it is possible to nullify the risks and the side affects. The future of the surgery is no doubt bright with all the advances made in medical science; it is possible to have this surgery with the barest risks. A skilled and experienced surgeon will be the right person, consult more than one surgeon before going for Lasik surgery…

  3. Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
