Lasith Malinga, the Sri Lankan fast bowler, is of the opinion that people tend to forget the former players and this is the reason why the Island’s spearhead wants to enjoy playing international cricket as much as he can.
Since making his international debut in 2004, the fast bowler from Galle has been a permanent member of the Lankan limited-over squad. However, the 29-year-old cricketer has had a career full of injuries, hampering his progress at the ultimate stage of the
sport.
Malinga decided to quit playing Test cricket in 2010, in his bid to prolong his international career in the shorter formats of the game. Over the last five years or so, the pacer, who possesses an extra-ordinary bowling action, has been playing franchise
cricket all across the globe and has enjoyed immense success in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The fast bowler expressed that he loves playing the game and is enjoying every bit of it at the present moment because Malinga understands that an international fast bowler does not have a very long career.
“I think in that short time that you have, you have to do the best for your team and do everything you want to,” said the Lankan pacer. “After you leave cricket, no one cares about you. I've seen that happen to former cricketers. I know that that will happen
to me as well,” he feels.
Malinga is currently playing Big Bash League in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 for the Melbourne Stars and has been at the peak of his game, picking up a lot of wickets for his franchise.
The speedster wants to carry on playing for his country and franchise cricket for some more years and continue to perform to the best of his ability.
“I just want to play as well as I can when I can do it, and one day be able to reflect on the number of wickets I've taken for my country, and the number of wins I've been able to deliver,” Malinga added.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 are presently playing a Test series in Australia and are struggling in the bowling department; however, Malinga will join the team for the limited-over competition, which commences from January 11, 2013, at Melbourne.
