Lasith Malinga wants to look at the future – Cricket News Update
Sri Lanka’s premier fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540, believes that there is no point looking at the past glories of Sri Lanka cricket and the Islanders must look at the future so that they can perform better.
The Islanders emerged as a major force in international cricket after winning the World Cup in 1996. Since then, the Sri Lankans have achieved a lot of laurels in international cricket and they have been a force to reckon with in the mega events.
However, the situation has not been the same since the last one and a half year as the Lankan Tigers have struggled in all formats of the game. A majority of cricket analysts feel that Sri Lanka has failed to find replacements for their legendary bowlers
like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758’s best bowler in the current era, Malinga only plays limited overs cricket and has quit Test match cricket.
The next assignment of the Sri Lankan team is the upcoming Commonwealth Bank Tri-Nation Series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Sri Lanka did well in Australia last time round but Malinga feels that it is going to be a fresh start for his team and they will have to work hard
to defeat Australia and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
While talking about his own performances, Malinga expressed that cricket is changing rapidly and now a fast bowler cannot just rely on pace to get the better of the opposing batsmen.
Malinga said, “The past is the past - all we are concerned about is future matches. We can't carry that [past] performance into the future. Now, the one-day game has become more difficult. Sometimes pace can help but the game has changed. Now you need variation
and other things to unsettle the batsmen."
The Sri Lankan fast bowler also praised his Aussie counterpart, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419 and feels that the veteran fast bowler can still play international cricket for a few more years.
''He's a good bowler, he can bowl fast any time [because] he is fit enough to. I'm looking forward to every match [we will face each other]. He's got a natural action that's nice and easy. I think he can play another few more years,'' he added.
