Last-32 draws announced for Betfred.com World Snooker Championship 2011
The last-32 draws of the Betfred.com World Snooker championship 2011 were finally announced today, a week after the final round of the qualifiers ended on 13th March.
All legendary names of world snooker face tough matches in the first round of the championship which features best-of-19 frames matches. World Champion, Australia’s Neil Robertson will meet Englishman Judd Trump, who won the Paul Hunter Classics in 2010.
The Australian defeated Graeme Dott 18-13 in the final of last year’s Betfred.com World Snooker Championship. He could face Dott again in the quarter-finals of this year’s tournament.
On the other hand, Scotsman Stephen Hendry will play against Joe Perry of England. Hendry has already faced Perry twice in the 2010-11 season. He first met him in opening round of the Euro Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 4 held in October 2010 where
he lost to Perry 3-4. The second time the pair met was in the first round of the Wyldecrest Park Homes Welsh Open 2011, where Hendry whitewashed Perry 4-0.
Ronnie O’Sullivan will meet Welshman Dominic Dale in the first round of the tournament. He was seeded 10th in the event due to his first-round exits from a series of ranking events. O’Sullivan and Dale have gone head-to-head three times this season. They
met twice at the Star Xing Pai PTC Event 1 and 4 in which O’Sullivan was victorious by 4-0 and 4-3 respectively. The third time they were supposed to meet was at the German Masters in February, but Dominic Dale got a walkover as Ronnie O’Sullivan couldn’t
participate in the tournament.
World number one John Higgins faces Stephen Lee for the second time this season. They first met in the opening round of the 123Bet.com UK Championship in December 2010 where Higgins beat Lee 9-6.
