Last Day Party?

K. So my mate and I decided to throw a last day party. We thought to invite all the people from 1st and 2nd year, but we don't have the space. So we thought to rent it out for a night and buy all the drinks & food. Any experiences with this? Some ideas could be helpful too. Thanks. Cheers.

Not sure where you live, what your budget is, or how many people you want to have, but here are some ideas:

1.  Set a realistic budget for everything from the rental, food, drink, d.j. or music, and any other hidden costs, such as linens, decorations etc.  You'll find that these things add up faster then you can imagine.

2.  If your budget is small, consider "hosting" a year end party at a place your friends all like to hang out at.  Let everyone pay their way in, or make a contribution toward the costs.

3.  A park might be a better alternative, especially if they have built in grills for barbecuing hamburgers and hotdogs.  You can usually purchase premade salads and sides at a discount at some of the larger superstores, such as Winco or Costco or Sam's.

4.  A party supply place should be able to supply you with tables, linens, and plates etc. but they will cost you.  You're better off with paper plates, cutlery, cups etc.purchased in bulk at a retail place.

5.  You can also have a potluck, wherein everyone coming can bring a dish and contribute $5.00 toward the main course, which you will supply.

6.  For music, enlist some of your friends to act as DJ if you can't afford one.  Having someone monitor what's being played etc. can make sure the tunes never stop.  You can also burn your own cd's of your favorite music to have played at the gathering.

7.  Enlist the support of some parents to ensure that rules are made, kept, and that no one will get hurt.
