Last Days Mentality?

Do you really think we are any closer today to the end of the world as we know it than people who lived say 100 or 200 years ago?

Really? Why? Why not?

Well first of all the world could end at any moment from several different disaster scenarios. Second I think there is just as much threat of war as there was 200 years ago, the only difference is the weapons are now powerful enough to destroy the human race. So there is an increased chance of humans wiping each other out, but it is still not enough to worry about.

Biblically it may be so. It was told that when the Jews returned to their homeland that would be the generation of the end times. The Jews have returned to Israel after over 1000 years.

Are we closer to the end? I don't think anyone can know that. But I do know that people have thought it was "the end" for a very long time.
