  2. Take a certified copy of your marriage license with your current social security card to the ss office. Fill out the form (they only have 1 form for everything it seems) and they will give you a letter stating your name change. They will keep your old card and a new one will arrive in about 10 days. This doesn't count against the 10 cards per lifetime limit. The procedure doesn't relate to immigration it is the same for everyone. Also take id with you but check in advance on acceptable id. I lost my newborn's ss card stupidly during a move when she was about 6 weeks. They don't accept birth certificates as a form of id. State issued id cards or passports are acceptable. I think but don't remember if you need that second identification document.
