Question:

Last Night....?

A train hit a semi. Right in front of my house. There was a huge fireball and the cab of the semi was literally demolished. I guess the semi got stuck in a little rut by the tracks and couldn't get out in time. There were no crossing guards, just lights which are hard to see due to the glare of the sun. I saw everything... it was horrible. Do you think the driver died on impact? And were the guys in the new, white SUV's some sort of railway police?

  1. The SUVs very well could have been railroad authorities. Sorry you had to witness that. I've been railroading for 11 years and had my first major incident three weeks ago when my train also hit a semi truck. Fortunately, my locomotive struck the rear of the trailer, launching the rear wheels and axles out in to a field. The driver was fine. He said that was the second time he'd been hit by a train (slow learner).  If I was ever involved in a fatality, I'd probably quit work on the trains and do something else. I'm not here to hurt innocent Americans.

  2. yeah i think the driver definently died on impact if he didn't it's a miracle! the guys in the suv were prolly not any kind of police.

  3. It sounds like the standard recipe for death, dismemberment and destruction:

    1.  Start with a fresh idiot.

    2.  Place idiot in vehicle.

    3.  Idiot will get stuck on grade crossing.

    4.  Add train.

    5.  Idiot freezes in fear and panic.

    6.  Wait 10 seconds...

    and your disaster is complete.

Now that you've witnessed this EVERYDAY occurrence for yourself, help spread the word, at least amongst family, friends and co-workers.  We assume staying the h**l out of the way is common sense in practice, but there are many out there that don't have a clue.

Many is also the number of trainmen and engineers that have been burned to death or crushed in the cab of their locomotives during these senseless accidents.

The truck driver can jump.  We can't...

  4. Indeed, the driver very likely died in the accident.  I don't have any information on the accident but regarding the SUV's railroads do employ and staff their very own law enforcement (which hold the same authority as standard police officers/state troopers).  If not railroad police than they were likely either upper management or track personnel.

  5. I think the driver did die and i think the white SUVs were part of the railroad company i think that is sad that would happen maybe you sould go over and see it for yourself

  6. i  think  he  died  on  inpack  cuz  to  take  a  hit  like   that is       hard    the   guys   in   the   suv   r  track  inspectors            they  were  just  cheking  the  track

  7. I've been with the railroad for 14 years.  I am a volunteer with the Critical Incident Response Team.  Honestly, I hope the driver wasn't hurt or didn't suffer long if he died; but I'm much more concerned with the condition of the crew.

People think they are cute or cool trying to beat trains.  Truck drivers all the time run out in front of us.  Sometimes they lose.

My concern is more for the safety of the crew.  If there was a fireball they could have been injured.
