Last Shadow set to cast shadow in Sports Handicap
Last Shadow is all set to cast a shadow at Haydock racecourse with his stunning and winning performance for the ace title of the Betfred Mobile Sports Handicap, a high-stakes Class 3 contest that will be held today, May 26. The action will commence at 2:00
(GMT).
On the good to firm track of 1 mile, 3 furlongs and 200 yards; the William Muir-trained bay gelding will compete against half a dozen rivals such as Beyond Conceit, Montaser, Almuftarris, Moidore, Rainbow Gold and Bob’s World.
For the prize cheque worth £9,338, the maverick young horse will unleash a big run while capitalising on the form produced by his impressive performances in the last two starts.
The three-year-old novice runner started his career on March 31, 2012 and finished 5th against a dozen of competitors in the maiden outing. The brilliant horse moved on to break his maiden in the very next venture on April 21.
While being a 7-2 favourite, he elegantly claimed the title of the Maiden Stakes at Nottingham ground. It was indeed a marvellous achievement that boosted up the victor’s morale to a great extent.
The talented son of Notnowcato out of Fairy Queen repeated the same in his third and last start on May 12, winning Weatherbys Bank Handicap again at the same venue.
Now, Last Shadow is on a hat-trick. He is likely to be an undisputed champion today as none of his competitors seems to be strong enough to impede him. However, Beyond Conceit and Moidore will fight for the second position.
Beyond Conceit staged his debut in July 2011 and finished 3rd in each of his first two races. The Tom Tate-trained bay colt marvellously broke his maiden on October 14 by winning TRC Maiden Stakes Haydock. He moved on to finish as a runner-up
in his last outing on April 27.
On the other hand, Moidore had been the hot favourite participant for each of his last two starts during October 2011. After getting a third in Soar Maiden Stakes, he finished first in Geldings Maiden Stakes.
Thus, there is likely to be a rip-roaring and nail-biting competition in today’s mega marathon. Let us enjoy the fabulous action. Good luck to all the runners.
