Question:

Last Track Meet Tomorrow, Hot bath and ice today?

hello my last track meet is tomorrow so i want to do a good job and i want my legs to be in the best condition (lower legs are the main problem)

so should i ice my muscles briefly and then take a warm bath?

or should i take a warm bath and then ice my muscles?

or just take a warm bath?

or just ice my muscles?

or neither?

  1. I would definitely suggest rest...

    Ice is great...try a contrast bath...2 min. warm, 1 min. cold, 7 repetitions.

    If possible, go see the trainer tomorrow before the meet.

  2. Shower in hot (or warm...whatever you usually do), rinse in cold (absolutley FREEZING!!! colder than you can even stand!)  for 1 minute. Hot water relaxes muscles, and the cold water puts them in good normal condition. Follow with heat pads (15 min.), then ice (20 min.). Eat PLENTY of bananas and other high-potassium foods.
