Pagan Swoord in the last at Lingfield,is an example of where the average punter could do with more information on condition of horse and what plans....The Horse has not won for 2 years, run few ok races in defeat..S Sanders up today..Not sure if its true but once heard only 1 in 20 horses in born to race actually win..So if Pagan Sword loses today is it Hurdling or back next year?.Somebody must be paying the bill.....This would never have happen in Her Fathers day,he must be turning in his car showroom...

  1. In all honesty the public have no right to the information of what a horses target is.  The trainers first priority is to the owner - the person paying the bills - and if he/she does not want the world and his wife knowing that is their perogative.

You are right in saying that a large percentage of thoroughbreds never race.  Over 14,000 foals are born each year in GB and Ireland and only about 6,000 two year olds enter training in these two countries each year.  These horses include the 800 or so horses that have been imported from the USA and the rest of Europe.

Granted some of these horses will enter training later in life, be it on the flat as 3yos or over jumps aged 5 or 6.  The fact is that the vast majority will never even see a racecourse let alone win.

  2. i can understand your question and wouldnt it be great if we could get that info or accsess to it from a betting point of view i always look at the market and try to see if there is money going on the horse but its not always accurate i suppose if we had all the info we wanted racing wouldnt be such a giant puzzle

  3. i know people that race horses, but the horse is treated more like

a pet, instead of a race horse. so if it wins great, and if if runs last,

it's still a tax write-off.....they enjoy getting into the owners lounge

and free programs and great seats.....so that is where i will be

on Saturday...at Santa Anita enjoying the breeders' cup

from Monmouth park....drinking plenty if yack.....and if my

friends horse win....we will all be moving like winners

    to the winners circle....
