For financial year 2007-08 or Assessment Year 2008-09 the last date was 31st July 2008. You can still submit ITR till 31.03.2009

U/s 139 if your total income in respect of which you are assessable under this Act during the previous year exceeded the maximum amount which is not chargeable to income-tax then you should furnish a return of your income during the previous year, in the prescribed form on or before the due date

U/s 234A- Where the return of income is furnished after the due date, or is not furnished, the assessee shall be liable to pay simple interest at the rate of 1 % for every month or part of a month on the amount of the tax due as per the return

U/s 271F- If a person who is required to furnish a return of his income, as required under sub-section (1) of section 139 or by the provisos to that sub-section, fails to furnish such return before the end of the relevant assessment year, the Assessing Officer may direct that such person shall pay, by way of penalty, a sum of Rs. 5000/

and if u r professional having business more the 10,00,000 then u r in tax Audit n the date is 31 September 2008 n if not more then 10,000,000 then 31 July 2008
