  1. That was the y2k scare.  All the computers in the world were supposed to have a nervous breakdown and leave society in the dark ages.

And the 2012 date is the last day on a calender not the end of the world.

  2. Most popular theory was that all technology was going to fail. There was hardly a merit to think that way, but there was some scientific speculation and action behind it.

    -technology was supposed to fail

    -asteroids were to hit earth

    -jesus was going to return

    -aliens were going to attack

    -nuclear war

-there was a theory about the sun exploding going around

  3. What?  Didn't you get the memo?  We were all supposed to die at midnight on December 31st, 1999, because all our computers were going to go belly up, causing civilization to collapse and mankind to be obliterated.

    Didn't happen, did it.

And that was a far more plausible scenario for the end of mankind than this Dec 21, 2012 rahooey.  So, the Mayan long cycle calendar ends on Dec 21, 2012.  Big deal.  The Mayans aren't around anymore to update their calendar, that's all it means.

  4. The Mayans are supposed to have the most accurate calendar and their beliefs are that the end of the world will be in 2012 and that it will end in fire or somewhere along those lines. But who really knows?

  5. Yeshua ha'Mashiach (Jesus) said He would be with us until the end of this Age (Pisces) which would end about 2000 years after His Birth. His birth was in 2007/8 and miscalculated by the Roman Catholic monk Dionysius Exiguus. Whether this and/or the decision not to correct it were intentional is up to debate. We know from the physician Luke's account (Luke 2:1-7) of Yeshua through investigation and interviews with friends, family members, and witnesses that Yeshua was born after everyone was registered by the Census of Quirinius in 7AD. With differences between the Hebrew lunar calendar and Gregorian calendar taken into account we are in the shadow of the Tribulation. This means 2012 is just the middle of the Tribulation where the antichrist is imbued with the power of satan at the Temple in Jerusalem. This evil event is called the "abomination that causes desolation" and has been celebrated by every satanic and pagan culture in every corner of the world throughout histroy... especially the blood thirsty Mayans.

  6. This means it is time to stop listening to "they"

  7. There were no predictions that the world was going to end at the end of 2000. There were people predicting that civilisation would fail at the start of 2000.

This was because there was a serious problem with computers which had stored dates with just two digits for the year. THis meant that when the year changed from 99 to 00 unpredictable things would occur. This was a genuine problem, not just a crazy rumour. It cost the computer industry billions to sort it out. I myself worked on this problem for about 18 months, changing programs so that they would work when the year 2000 arrived. Luckily, we got the work done on time and everything worked as it should have when 1 Jan 2000 arrived. A job well done!

Of course, the possible failures caused panic, and all the usual scaremongers used it as an opportunity to say that much more was going to happen than just the computers failing. But you should never pay attention to the doomsayers.

  8. it was soo weird. probably just rumors! everybody's always asking about that. yet, still no answer...
