  2. Mercy me, I recall when pocket calculators came out, we  were not allowed to take them to class (but that was back in the dark ages) and now...now computers and the like are whisk into the class room...where students can ask for homework help!

    What's the world coming to?

  3. Researching the origins of your last name and researching your family history are 2 DIFFERENT things.  There are MANY reasons that some of our ancestors ended up with the last names they got, and many times it has nothing to do with the origins of the last name.  Perfect example that Ted Pack uses a lot is the name Lee.  Common last name for Chinese, but not all people last named Lee have Chinese ancestry.........take confederate general Robert E. Lee for an example of that.  So, if you are planning to research your family tree based on what your last name is, you will not end up with an accurate family tree.  Also, you do not even consider all your other ancestors that have different last names than you do.  By researching by last name only, means that you are researching your dad, and his dad, and his dad, etc.  What about his mother?  What about YOUR mother?  And her father and mother?  These people do not all share your last name but are all a part of your ancestry.

  4. I'd help if I could!

  5. Bark Name Meaning and History

English: from Middle English bark ‘bark’ (Old Norse borkr), hence a metonymic occupation name for a tanner. See also Barker.

North German: topographic name for someone who lived by a birch tree or in a birch wood, from berke ‘birch’, or alternatively for someone who lived on a mountain (see Barg).

Jewish (eastern Ashkenazic): of uncertain origin, perhaps a variant of Barak.
