Last night as i went to bed i heard a noise in my kitchen, i went down stairs and my backdoor was open.?

My mother (i think) forgot to lock the door, however there was a waste bag on the door handle, and the Policeman thinks that is what scared him off.

I have a cat, a burglar alarm and follow most anti-burgrlar protocols, is there any advice anyone can further give? (we have no stickers on the windows but its something i am now considering)

well dogs normally do a better job of running off burglars than cats.

You can buy and install very inexpensive alarms which sound when a door is opened. These will most likely be enough to scare off an intruder and will alert you of an attempted entry.

You can buy these at places like Radio Shak.
