Sorry, another Isabeu O too much info question!

I know, I just said I have an appointment soon, but just wanted to hear some opinions, experiences before then, to kill some time and possible put my mind at ease.

As my previous questions indicate, I've had on and off diarrhea for almost 2 weeks now, some days it's bearable, other days its ridiculous, but today, I'm not sure!

I woke with severe pains in my stomach at midnight last night, took an immodium (with doc's ok of course, he ok'd it early on) and went back to sleep.

When I woke this morning, I tried to 'poo' but it hurt like h**l, not in the sense of constipation, but it almost hurt my uterus (or I think) to try and push it out!

The same thing happened before when I tried to go.

So, basically it feels like I urgently need the toilet (diarrhea) but can't go when I actually get there! I'm pretty sure it's not the immodium causing it, it has happened a few times lately, and am just finally at my wits end.

Now, on top of these constant contractions that lead nowhere, this is not very comfortable! Is it normal?

  1. That's happened to me a few times.  When you feel like you have to go and can't, it's a lot like when you feel like you're going to vomit and your body goes through the motions but nothing is there.  It may be normal but Immodium can cause constipation as you know.

As far as your contractions, without knowing if they have started before or after your bouts of diarrhea, I would venture to say that if they started after your diarrhea that they are a result of the dehydration you're most likely experiencing from being sick for two weeks.  And if you've been nauseated and not eating or drinking regularly on top of all of this, it's probably a definite reason.  Anytime that I end up dehydrated, I have contractions that are on top of each other around the clock until I'm able to rehydrate at which point they stop.  At times I've had to go into L&D to get fluids via IV so that they would stop because I'd be so sick that I simply could not keep fluids in my body any other way.

I don't know if any of this helps but I do feel your pain and hope you get better soon.  I know it's beyond frustrating but really try to keep focused on doing the things you can to stay half way comfortable.  Stay strong Mamma!

  2. yep sounds pretty normal to me. its your body getting ready for the birth.

Bubs could be here sooner rather then later :D

Ask the doc though they will put your mind at ease
