Question:

Last question: why are women ashamed of their b*****s...when it comes to feeding the baby?

I read many of times that breast milk is the best milk for human babies and that we as adults shouldn't even be drinking a cow's milk. I read somewhere that humans should start wanting human milk if they must have milk as adults. Human milk has been proven to boost IQ, and health wise protect the baby. No powered or fake milk can do that no matter how good it sounds or what chemical they use to add vitamins A or D or whatever.

But in general why are women so ashamed of breast feeding?

  1. Women SHOULD be able to feed their babies in public, without feeling shame or any other discomfort. Unfortunately though, many men aren't able to look at women as anything other than a sexual being. Not even when she's feeding her child. I imagine if I was a woman, I'd feel self-conscious showing my b*****s in public because of that, too.

I don't endorse this, by the way. It's totally idiotic.

  2. Some women are ... b*****s are secondary sexual organs .

They are treated as something that should be hidden in public . Part of our Puritanical society.

  3. I was never ashamed of it.  I breastfed my sons whenever and wherever they needed it.  However, I would probably have had qualms about feeding them if we'd been in a posh restaurant or something, but we never went in a posh restaurant when they were babies (I had no qualms at all about feeding them in Macdonalds).

  4. The majority of my friends tell me it feels funny and unnatural.  I thought it felt a little funny, but I wouldn't have changed the bond I built with my son for any amount of money.  If we were never meant to breast feed our babies, we woman wouldn't have b*****s that lactate.  I went to an appointment when my son was approx. 9-10 months old.  My goal was to breast feed for 1 year without ever using formula.  The dietitian told me I was wrong and I was jeopardizing the health and well fare of my son.  She also told me he was malnourished (the pediatrician told me he was perfect 2 days prior), and I was malnourished (I weighed 245 pounds).  She told me he would be brain damaged, and his kidneys would shut down if I gave him any amount of (cow)milk.  I left that office crying and upset, but I never gave my baby an ounce of man made formula.  My son is so smart (developmental specialist told me he was doing great at 2 years old), zero problems with his kidneys and he amazes me everyday with the smart things that come out of his mouth.  Yes I got that woman in trouble.  I would never change the one year and 3 days I spent breast feeding my son, and I will never apologize for giving him the start God intended us all to have.

  5. I don't know any women who are ashamed of breast feeding.  I don't think you're going to convince many adults to drink human milk, though.

  6. Well ill be drinking 6 daily glasses of whole cow milk until i die :P

Breast milk is awesome for the babies, it also gives immunologic defenses from the mother to them, since babies may not have some yet.

I really dont think that women are ashamed of b*****s to feed babies.

It just might seem unpolite or uncomfortable for some to do it in public.

    It' not illegal tho.

  7. I'm not! I love my b*****s & I'm sure when I have babies, I'll love them even more.

  8. This is a very good question.  Women wear bras to keep their b*****s from sagging and wear pads to be able to wear fashionable clothes that show off their breast shape. However when it comes to feeding a baby people go crazy about the indecency of it. It doesn't make any sense.

Not only is breast feeding good for the baby it is good for the mother.  It lessens the chance that she will ever have breast cancer and improves her health in other ways as well.

  9. Because in this country, the nipple is seen as an advertisement for prostitution.  They're just trying to keep the nosy nuts away.  It generally doesn't work hough.  No matter how "modest" and "discreet" you try to be, some jackass will stare, or actually walk up and give you a lecture.

  10. They're NOT ashamed of nursing their babies, that's the point.  In Europe nobody cares at  ALL. b*****s haven't been sexualised to the same extent as in the Puritannical USA. I remember seeing bare-breasted women in German magazines advertising soap 40 YEARS AGO.  Its the Americans who have the "hang up", not the nursing mothers themselves.

"Here are some facts that any breastfeeding mom should know:

-- Breastfeeding in public is a right in all 50 states, a fact many women don't realize. At least half of states have laws specifically protecting the rights of the breastfeeding mom.

-- In addition, some states have laws on the books specifically geared to protect women who breastfeed in public, excluding them from prosecution under other laws that deal with indecent exposure or obscenity. In this way you are protected against any criminal charges for nursing in public.

-- In other states -- for example New York and California -- specific civil statutes address breastfeeding in public and grant women the right to do so. Being denied that opportunity means a woman can sue for violation of her civil rights.

-- Under current federal law, a woman has the right to breastfeed in public on any federal property or within any federal building."

  11. As a breast feeding mother I am looked at in public like I am doing something dirty. No matter how covered the baby is. I love b.f and seen on sham in it but others have a had time with it. A lot of moms with bottle fed babies look at me like I am crazy for feeding my baby. I just tell them I don't gock at you for putting that bottle in their mouth, or tell you "you're a bad mom for not b.f"  I just wish people could get past the sexual side of breast and look at them for their purpose in life which is to give food!

  12. a bunch of girls that i work with freaked out because one day a woman was walking around breast feeding her baby. but i think it's beautiful. i can't wait to breast feed my baby, and i'm not uncomfortable with it at all. i think my boyfriend would be, if i just whipped my boob out in public to feed my baby, because they're meant for him to see and no one else, but i really don't see a problem with it. if your baby is hungry, feed her!
