Last season was the most disappointing one for Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones – NFL News
Since taking the charge of Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones has seen good and bad times in his tenure that is spanned over more than 20 years. He has seen the team winning Super Bowl, qualifying for playoffs, narrowly missing postseason qualification and what
not?
Still, he thinks that the most disappointing one of his tenure was the 2011 season in which the Cowboys were looking strong, but missed out on the opportunity of qualifying for the playoffs in their regular season finale.
Cowboys had a strong chance of qualifying for the postseason until Week 12, but they slumped towards the end of the season and were eventually sent packing after Week 17. New York Giants made it to the playoffs from their division and eventually won the
Super Bowl.
According to NFL.com, Jones was really expecting the Cowboys to have an amazing season, but the owner was disappointed, big time. He said:
“Last year was the most disappointing year for me in my 24 years. We had the goods. We had the quarterback, he had the season. We were positioned, in my mind, to go further and really make a run at it."
In the 1995 season, Cowboys won their last Super Bowl title and have been struggling to win the title again. Earlier this offseason, Jones even said that the window was closing on Cowboys to win the championship.
Those comments made headlines for a lot of time, but Jones later added that he was just trying to motivate his players by mentioning it.
Jones has had his moments with the franchise, watching the team winning crucial games and defying odds a number of times to beat others. However, there is nothing like a Super Bowl victory and the owner is longing to win the title again. This is the only
achievement that is going to make him happy. He said:
“I know there are some things about it that I'm proud of, proud of what we've done, proud of where we are relative to other sports, relative to the NFL, and I'm talking about our franchise, the Cowboys franchise. I don't think anything, though, for me, substitutes
for the feeling of winning a Super Bowl."
