Last time asking, I guess about downloading pics to computer?

Question

Okay, I asked this question before, here it is again because people gave me answers like use the software & connect the usb cord to the camera::

I have a Vivitar ViviCam 8400 digital camera. I cannot get pictures to download. I supposively downloaded the driver for it, but I cannot locate it. It told me to restart for it to work, so I did and nothing. I cannot figure out how to get these pictures off the camera and on to the computer. Any ideas or help?

I do not have the original software, but it has been done before but I just cannot remember how my family member did it and they dont't either, also it says cannot connect to the camera. I just need another way of doing this or any good info I can be given. I have the camera connected to the computer. It detected new software, but did not find it, etc...I have Windows 98. I plugged it into start with and it did not show up at all. It searched, is what it said and nothing found

Check under My Computer, there should be an icon for your cam.  You should be able to double click, and drag and drop you pics on your desktop, at least, that's how it works on XP!

Windows 98 was not designed to work with USB devices.  Microsoft released Windows 98se to solve this problem, but it wasn't perfect and didn't automatically recognize the USB connections like XP and Vista does.  You may have an older Windows 98 system.

That being said, you can locate your software this way.  Go to Start, then Search.  Choose the date or time period of the download.  You may have to download it again.

If you are successful, the Search engine will locate it for you.

Another suggestion.  Go here:

Find the driver again.  Then, instead of "saving" it, "run" it instead.  That way, the software won't just be saved on the computer, it will be fully activated.
