Last week I went for an early morning walk to McDonald's for a coffee and an EggMcMuffin?

Unknowingly, I stepped in some dog mess along the way. To make a long story short, it wasn't until I had ordered my food and sat down at the table, that I noticed the smell was coming from my own shoe. Well I rushed to the toilet and used some water and paper towel to clean up my shoes. However, returning to the dining area, I could see that I had tracked the moist brown matter all around the restaurant. To avoid being detected, I switched tables and sat down to continue consuming my delicious breakfast.

After a short while the assistant manager came out from behind the counter and was angrily asking the patrons who was responsible for the fecal mess. He was livid. I did not say anything, but rather continued eating my EggMcMuffin and sipping my delicious coffee.

Now I cannot sleep at night. I feel ever so guilty for not fessing up to my actions. Shall I return to that McDonalds and tell the assistant manager what I have done? Or should I write to McDonald's Corporation?

  1. Wow you have a conscience on you!! Everyone has done something like this! Atleast he didn't blame it on someone else and kick them out while you sat there! The assistant manager has probably forgotten about it now don't lose sleep over something so trivial. You didn't commit a crime and not fess up you made a bit of a mess! Don't worry about it.

  2. as the manager he shouldn't have brought the attention to the rest of the customers. forget about it.

  3. haha...funny

you could write, but I am sure they get so many guilt letters they can't keep up with them.

  4. As a former manager at a fast food establishment myself he should not have made a scene over it.  I never would have brought attention to it especially since people were eating, he's just a bad manager, he should be fired

  5. If this is a serious question, I think you should do nothing about it.  It happened, and it's over.  It's no big deal now.  They got over it, I'm sure.  You should too.

I don't blame you for not fessing up.  It'd only mean that they'd openly express their anger at you in front of others.  You didn't want that, and I don't think anyone would blame you.

I believe most people would have done the same thing as you, if not leave before finishing the sandwich.

If you feel the need to apologize, and you believe in God, apologize to Him.  That's what I'd do.

  6. Forget about it. That manager has issues.

It would have been nice if you had told someone about it at the time so they could clean it up. But you didn't.

In any case, the manager's reaction was inappropriate. Serving the public sometimes, quite literally, stinks. Managers should be able to take this type of thing in stride and focus on cleaning it up, not assigning blame.

  7. *yawn* whatever u feel like doing

  8. i think you should laugh at the matter, cause this just made my day.

i hate mcdonalds..its reallyyyy bad for you.

  9. Forget about it ,what the manager did was unexcusable,he is supposed to run a resaturant not accuse customers.

  10. No. You sleep at night and forget this. It was wrong of the manager to even harrass the customers like that.

It was an accident. And he should not have tried to embarrass any patron like that.

    **** happens.

  11. Is there something wrong with you?

First of all neither McDonald's nor the dog owner feels responsible or guilty for the messes they leave behind.

The mess you left at McDonald's was accidental. Had you purposely soiled the Mcdonald's, that would have been a whole different matter.

McDonald's epitomizes, in my mind, total lack of conscience. Not only are they poisoning people with their "food", but the tremendous amount of garbage generated by their operations should be of concern to all. In the big picture we'd have to go dump trucks full of dog **** at Mcdonald's every hour to get anywhere near even with them for what they do to us.

  12. You should do nothing. How rude of the manager to be asking such a question. They have workers there with mops and buckets for things like this. Do not feel guilty just watch where you step next time.

  13. i wouldn't worry about it, if anyone should apologize, it should be the person walking the dumb mutt and not picking up after it!

  14. First of all, you should have quietly told a staff member about the "mess" and apologized for the inconvience.  It actually was a safety issue, since you had "tracked" it thru the restaurant you had tracked germs where others both walk and at times children sit, pacifiers drop etc. As well as the fact that someone else could have slipped on the fecal matter prior to it being cleaned up. Common courtesy would have been to be upfront and tell immediately.

Since that is not an option now, you might go to that manager and quietly confess and apologize for not being up front in the first place.  Explain that you were embarrased by the situation and did not know what to do.

Lastly, the manager was wrong to make such a scene and he or she needs to learn how to handle the unexpected more professionally.  Stop losing sleep over this.

  15. it's over now
