I have to get my wisdom teeth taken out next week. I'm just wondering what I should expect... I'm kinda a baby when it comes to pain. For example, I pass out when I get my blood drawn or when I have really intense stomach pains or cramping. What are good things to eat afterwards? Thanks!!

  1. The entire procedure is not bad at all. I hardly took any pain medication afterward because I was feeling fine after a full day. I took one day off of work. The only annoying part is not being able to chew solid food for a while. I ate stuff like macaroni, baked beans and mashed potatoes. I also bought some meal replacement drinks so I could get the calories and nutrients I needed.

  2. good luck if you can't take pain, i was fine with the pills they gave me, but it still isnt comfortable

as for food, youre not gonna want to eat anything you have to chew for a while.

  3. I'm a big baby too! But there really is no need to worry, I am assuming they will be putting you under anethestic for this and thats perfect. When you wake up it will all be done and over with and you wont see any blood or anything. Your mouth will be sore and they'll give you some pain medication for it, in a few days you'll be back to normal. The doctors usually explain what they're doing but because I'm queasy about things I just tell them, just do what you need to do I dont want to hear about it. Afterwards, stick to soft foods, like soup, mashed potatoes, ice cream, hot dogs should be okay, stuff thats easily chewed. Good luck!

  4. My friend just had hers taken out.  I was there through the whole process.  Basically, they gave her anesthesia because all her teeth were impacted.  I'm sure they'll tell you all about this...but when the process is done (took about 30 minutes for her...sometimes will take 45) you need to try and stay awake because it will be easier to deal with the pain that way rather than trying to sleep it off.  While you are awake...you should try to drink fluids and eat something to help.  If the anesthesia hasn't worn off, someone might need to feed you...so tell that to whoever is going to take care of you.

Anyway...my friend says the pain wasn't unbearable.  She found it uncomfortable to talk and stuff but she's felt worse before.

    Things you can eat...

    Mashes potatoes

    Apple Sauce

    Jello

    Ice Cream

    Soup

    Oatmeal

    Yogurt :)

  5. The worst thing about getting wisdom teeth removed for me was the bleeding. You get pain medication, but the pain wasn't that bad even without it. They even had to cut my teeth in half because they had grown so much, and it still wasn't too bad. If you are too worried about it, just keep up with the pain medication. And any soft foods that you don't have to chew are good. You can always talk to your oral surgeon before the appointment if you don't have the answers you want.
