Laszlo Cseh claims Men’s 200m IM crown: Day four – 2011 World University Games
Day four of the 2011 World University Games got-off to a strong start with the scintillating splash of Hungary’s swimmer, Laszlo Cseh in Shenzhen, China, on Wednesday, August 17. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 200m Individual Medley final.
In the corresponding race, Laszlo swam immaculately and won the golden crown on the podium by posting a stunning time of 1 minute and 57.86 seconds. Previously, Alex Vanderkaay posted the fastest time of 1 minute and 57.58 seconds, set at the 2009 edition
of the meet.
Laszlo is a well-known swimmer of Hungary, who won three silver medals in the Men’s 200m butterfly, 200m and 400m medley events at the 2008 Olympic Games, in Beijing. More importantly, Laszlo secured the gold medal in the 400m medley meet at the 2005 edition
of the championships, in Montreal. Furthermore, Laszlo secured 18 gold medals in the European Championships from 2003-2010. Currently, Cseh has been preparing for next year’s Olympic Games, to be held in London. He looks really determined and self-motivated
to win a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
Yuya Horihata of Japan hit the finishing wall in 1 minute and 59.74 seconds to secure silver medal of the meet. Previously, Horihata won the gold medal in the 400m medley event at the 2010 Asian Games, in Guangzhou. Yuya Horihata’s team-mate, Yuma Kosaka
earned the bronze medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 1 minute and 59.81 seconds.
Dmitry Zhilin of Russia wound up fourth in a time of 1 minute and 59.84 seconds. Cody Chitwood of United States was placed fifth in a time of 2 minutes and 00.53 seconds. Austin Surhoff of United States earned sixth place honours with an impressive time
of 2 minutes and 01.04 seconds, whereas, Daniel Sebastien Rousseau of Russia was placed seventh in a time of 2 minutes and 02.56 seconds. In the respective meet, Travis Mahoney of Australia secured eighth place after he touched the finishing wall with a time
of 2 minutes and 03.32 seconds.
