Laszlo Cseh clinches Men’s 200m butterfly gold: Day four – European LC Championships
Laszlo Cseh of Hungary clinched gold medal of the Men’s 200m butterfly on fourth day of the continued European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Thursday, May 24.
Cseh served notice of his talent in the distant butterfly discipline as he acquired gold medal of the event. He remained comfortably ahead of his opponents throughout the event and sprinted his way towards the wall for the title.
The Hungarian veteran smothered hopes of his opponents by occupying gold medal of the 200m event with a phenomenal effort of 1 minute and 54.95 seconds.
The champion was trailed by his teammate, Bence Biczo, who was 0.90 seconds apart and reached the medal rostrum for silver medal of the event by clocking a time of 1 minute and 55.85 seconds.
With his astonishing efforts, Biczo remained in a lead of 0.63 seconds over his following challenger, Ioannis Drymonakos of Greece, who settled on the finishing wall for bronze medal by reporting a time of 1 minute and 56.48 seconds.
Fourth best spot of the discipline was secured by Dinko Jukic of Austria, who remained only 0.05 seconds slower from outsmarting his former finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 56.53 seconds.
Following that, the arena witnessed a breathtaking performance of Israel’s Jonatan Kopelev in the Men’s 50m backstroke. Kopelev met expectations of his supporters by occupying gold medal of the event with the timing of 24.73 seconds.
His title-claiming effort remained 0.22 seconds ahead of Mirco Di Tora of Italy, who earned silver medal of the discipline by submitting a time of 24.95 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Dorian Gandin, Guy Barnea, and Richard Bohus, who remained 0.19 seconds slower from their foregoing finisher and occupied third position of the event by ending their swims with an identical effort of 25.14 seconds.
Sixth position of the event was secured by Pavel Sankovich of Bulgaria, who clocked a time of 25.25 seconds.
In addition, the position holders were called upon the medal rostrum for their gruelling efforts at the medal distribution ceremony of the tournament after the session.
