Laszlo Cseh conquers Men’s 200m butterfly gold medal – 2011 World University Games
Laszlo Cseh of Hungary demonstrated his breath-taking skills to conquer the gold medal of the Men’s 200m butterfly meet on the earliest day of the 2011 World University Games on Sunday, August 14, in Shenzhen, China.
Cseh impressed the aquatic arena, by winning the gold medal of the event in a wonderful time of 1 minute and 55.87 seconds. His time was 4.36 seconds slower than the world record of 1 minute and 51.51 seconds, made by Michael Phelps at the 2009 World Championships
in Rome. His time was also 1.57 seconds away from improving the Game Record of Poland’s Pawel Korzeniowski, who claimed the title of the same event in 1 minute and 54.30 seconds during 2009.
The gold medallist was 0.19 seconds ahead of his closest swimmer, Robert Bollier of USA, who earned the silver medal of the event, by reporting in a time of 1 minute and 56.06 seconds. Bollier was chased by Hidemasa Sano of Japan, who remained 0.75 seconds
away from him and ended his swim in a third fastest time of 1 minute and 56.81 seconds to reach the medal rostrum.
Sano’s team-member, Kazuya Kaneda surfaced as the fourth best finishing spot of the event, as he remained just 0.20 seconds slower than the bronze medallist and clocked a time of 1 minute and 57.01 seconds. In the meantime, Bollier’s team-member, Mark Dylla
transpired as the fifth position holder of the event, as he was 0.99 seconds behind his former swimmer and reported in a time of 1 minute and 58.00 seconds.
Subsequently, Francesco Pavone of Italy acquired the sixth position of the swim, as he was only 0.44 seconds behind Dylla and touched the finishing wall to post 1 minute and 58.44 seconds. Australia’s Grant Irvine and Korea’s Gyucheol Chang settled as the
seventh and eighth finishers of the event, with timings of 1:58.90 and 1:59.17 minutes, respectively.
In addition, the arena valued the commendable efforts of all swimmers, while the winners were invited on the victory stand after the session.
