Laszlo Cseh shines in Men’s 200m IM heats: Day two – European LC Championships
Hungarian expert and European record holder, Laszlo Cseh shined in the qualification rounds of Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on day two of the European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Tuesday, May 22.
The 26-year-old Cseh stayed considerably ahead of his opponents throughout the 200m discipline and sprinted his way towards the finishing end for top fastest position.
With his alluring efforts, he remained considerably ahead of his opponents and tapped the finishing end for first position by producing a time of 1 minute and 59.15 seconds.
He was followed by his teammate, David Verraszto, who remained 1.20 seconds apart and secured second best qualification spot of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 00.35 seconds.
Verraszto was chased by Simon Sjoedin of Sweden, who was only 0.03 seconds apart and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 00.38 seconds for third best qualification spot of the event.
Sjoedin was trailed by Markus Rogan of Austria, who was only 0.04 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and completed his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 00.42 seconds.
In the meantime, the crowd witnessed stupendous efforts of Britta Steffen in the Women’s 100m freestyle prelims. The 28-year-old Steffen lived up to the expectations of her supporters as she occupied fastest qualification spot of the event by posting a time
of 54.65 seconds.
Her stupendous effort remained 0.03 seconds ahead of Sarah Sjoestroem of Sweden, who finished her swim in second best place by clocking a time of 54.68 seconds.
Sjoestroem faced tough competition from Daniela Schreiber of Germany, who was just 0.01 seconds apart and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 54.69 seconds.
Fourth best qualifying position of the discipline was secured by Hanna-Maria Seppala of Finland, who was almost one body length apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 55.40 seconds.
In addition, the session ended after the completion of all planned events while the position holders will face each other in the playoffs of their respective events to prove their mettle for top spot on the victory stand.
