Laszlo Cseh wins Men’s 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle - 2011 Hungarian Long Course Nationals
The 2008 Beijing silver medallist, Laszlo Cseh, dominated the Men’s events of 100m butterfly and the 200m freestyle on the initial day of the 2011 Hungarian Long Course Nationals.
The 25-year-old Cseh overpowered his fellow swimmers in both events to win the gold medals of both meets. Kobanya Sport Club’s Cseh captured the title of the 100m event, by clocking in a magnificent time of 51.98 seconds. He was in a comfortable lead from
his following swimmer, Bence Biczo, who followed him on the finishing wall for silver medal, by touching the wall in a superb time of 53.61 seconds. They were followed by Bence Pulai of Kobanya, who earned the bronze medal of the event, by posting a competitive
effort of 53.86 seconds.
Cseh, who won three silver medals in the swims of 200m butterfly, 200m Individual Medley (IM) and the 400m IM at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, warmed himself up for the upcoming battle of the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, this July. He also won
the bronze medal in 400m IM at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
The national champion seemed strong from the starting blocks, as he defeated his rivals in the first lap of the swim, by clocking a time of 24.51 seconds. He was followed by Biczo and Pulai, who completed their swims in the second and third fastest times
of 25.45 and 25.80 seconds. The swimmers sustained their spots in the final lap, where Cseh gained a lead of almost two seconds over Biczo, who finished second.
In the Men’s 200m freestyle, Cseh captured his second gold medal of the evening by producing a remarkable effort of 1 minute and 50.36 seconds. He was followed by Peter Bernek and Balazs Zambo, who occupied the podium for the silver and bronze medals, with
their impressive swims of 1:50.79 and 1:51.02 minutes, respectively.
Cseh expressed happiness after winning two gold medals on the opening day of the national championship and added that he is looking forward to dominate his events and the world titles in Shanghai.
