Laszlo Cseh wins Men’s 400m IM title: Day five – 2011 World University Games
Laszlo Cseh of Hungary captured the attention of the crowd on day five of the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China, on Thursday, August 18. The session of the competition conducted Men’s 400m Individual Medley final.
In the corresponding meet, Cseh put up a great splash and secured the 400m IM crown on the podium by posting a stunning time of 4 minutes and 12.67 seconds. After the race, Laszlo was really happy and pleased with his effort in the meet.
His swim was short of Mateusz Matczak’s meet record of 4 minutes and 12.28 seconds, set back at the 2009 edition of the competition. Cseh still owns the fastest time of 4 minutes and 11.22 seconds of the current year, set back at the 2011 Mare Nostrum meet,
in June. Cseh won three silver medals at the 2008 Olympic Games, in Beijing. Moreover, he won the gold medal in the Men’s 400m IM at the 2005 edition of the championships, in Montreal.
In the meantime, Yuya Horihata of Japan secured the silver medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 4 minutes and 13.66 seconds. That splash was under Yuya Horihata’s meet record of 4 minutes and 11.98 seconds. In the corresponding race, William
Harris of United States of America snared the bronze medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 4 minutes and 15.40 seconds. That swim moved him to 19th place in the current rankings of international swimming.
Hiromasa Fujimori of Japan was placed fourth in a time of 4 minutes and 18.04 seconds, while Lewis Smith of Great Britain finished fifth in 4 minutes and 18.84 seconds. Carlos Gomis Vives of Spain settled sixth in a time of 4 minutes and 22.07 seconds, whereas,
Ilya Volovnik of Russia wound up seventh with a time of 4 minutes and 22.98 seconds. William Cregar of United States of America earned eighth place honours after he touched the finishing wall in a time of 4 minutes and 23.31 seconds.
