Late drama denies Inter Milan a chance to close the gap on leaders AC Milan: Serie A update
Brescia held Inter Milan to a 1-1 draw in a Serie A encounter at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti on Friday evening. Samuel Eto’o opened the scoring for the visitors but Andrea Caracciolo equalized four minutes from the full time whistle to dent Inter’s title
challenge. The Nerazzurri now remain four points behind league leaders AC Milan and have also played an extra game.

The game started at a fiery pace, as both teams exchanged some rugged midfield challenges in the opening minutes. Brescia had the first sight on goal in the eighth minute, when Caracciolo got a header at goal from Marco Zambelli’s cross but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Julio-Cesar-c19961 collected
it with ease.
Immediately after that, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799 took a fine shot from 22 yards but it went whiskers over the post. Inter dominated the possession and were content to move the ball around.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 18th minute; Sneijder’s corner was headed over by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrea-Ranocchia-c5708 into the path of Eto’o, who smacked a volleyed effort into the net to make it 1-0. The Nigerian took his tally to 32 goals for the season.
Immediately after that, Pandev had a superb opportunity to double the advantage but the Macedonian’s long range effort was brilliantly saved by Michele Arcari.
Just after the half-hour mark, Caracciolo played a delicate chipped shot over Cesar but it rattled against the top of the bar to deny Brescia an equalizer.
Brescia looked brave in their counter-play and should have scored an equalizer just after the resumption of second half. Caracciolo embarked a superb run and dribbled past http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dejan-Stankovic-c10793 but Cesar made a nice save to deny him.
Inter dominated the possession with 59 percent of the share but the hosts had more shot on targets. Both teams continued to create some decent openings but could not pounce on their opportunities.
Brescia finally equalised in the 85th minute, Alessandro Diamanti’s corner kick was headed towards his own goal by Ivan Cordoba and Caracciolo pounced to tap home and make it 1-1.
Three minutes later, Brescia were awarded a penalty kick, after Eder Martins was hauled down by Cordoba in the box and the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 defender was shown a straight red card. Caracciolo hit the spot kick low to Cesar’s right and the goalkeeper made a nice save
to keep the ball out.
Just on stroke of full time whistle, Caracciolo was shown his second yellow card of the evening for kicking the ball away in disappointment.
The game ended 1-1 as Inter would consider themselves lucky in the end.
Inter Milan will play their next match against Bayern Munich on 15th March, while Brescia will take on Juventus on 20th March.
