  1. You will get that information when you go to the eviction proceedings in court and do recommend that you go to the proceedings. If you do not show up, the judge simply gives the landlord what he is asking for. But, if you go to the proceedings, you may be able to buy yourself additional time to find another apartment or even better, setup payment arrangements to make your account current.

  2. You get a 3 day notice to pay or leave then they file a court case and sue you for all back rent, late fees, court fees, damages, lost income and more.

They get a judgement, put you on the curb and then go after your paychecks, car, bank accounts, etc. etc. accumulating interest month by month until you are paid off.

They have your name in court records which will damage your credit rating and ability to rent in decent places.

  3. Landlord will issue a pay or quit notice after 7 days. If you still don't pay after 2 weeks he petition the court for eviction. Sheriff will come and place notice either in your hand or on door then you go to court and tell judge why you didn't pay rent. and then judge sets date for you to leave property. On that date Landlord can and will enter apartment or house and change locks. So if you don't have your things out by then say good buy to your property.

  4. Apx 30 days from the day you get a notice from the landlord.  In NYC it's a lot longer. /
