Lateef Kayode: I will knock Antonio Tarver out in either the fifth or sixth round – Boxing News
Lateef Kayode, the current NABA cruiserweight champion, in a recent media interaction predicted that he will knock out Antonio Tarver, his upcoming opponent, most probably in the fifth or sixth round adding that Antonio will pay for whatever negative comments
he has uttered about him.
Lateef and Antonio will meet in a title bout which will be televised live on June 2, 2012 from Showtime. The fight card is being organised and promoted by Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions and will also witness Austin Trout defend his WBA World light
middleweight title against Delvin Rodriguez.
Lateef and Antonio will headline the weekly ShoBox pay-per-view and one thing is for sure both men will strive hard to obliterate the other as Lateef is in sheer rage because of continuous verbal targeting done by Antonio.
Kayode, also known as the ‘Power’, is a surging young Nigerian who boasts an undefeated streak in a total 18 bouts. The 29-year-old has in a very short time secured eighth place in World Boxing Organisation’s rankings.
In addition, Lateef has recently nailed many heavy duty names and secured not only the NABA title but also the WBO NABO and NABF cruiserweight titles as well. During the media interaction, Lateef exhibited his anger at the fact that whenever he has put forth
a good performance, Antonio does not highlight or praise his game.
Lateef was of the view that Tarver concentrates more on his mistakes and ignores the jabs and strikes that even make the crowd shout out loud. Kayode vowed that he will tell Antonio via knock out that he is not a pugilist with just flaws running all over
him.
The Nigerian proud stated, “I’m going to prove that all the things he said about me were wrong. He only concentrates on my mistakes. If this fight were in the streets, I know I would win. I come from far away and have struggled all my life. My prediction
is that I think I’m going to knock him out in the fifth round or the sixth round…He’s going to get hurt so bad, so bad. I’m coming for him.”
The bout will be a tough one as Antonio has also shared his resolve to show Lateef something that he has never experienced. The ring for the bout will be set up at Home Depot Center in Carson, California, United States.
