  1. The spots may also be coming from your washer, try running it empty with some vinegar and baking soda to clean it.


  2. I agree with eskie lover, it could be fabric softener. To remove the stains, make a paste of baking soda and a liquid dish soap, such as Dawn. Apply it to the stains and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Launder as usual, but I would recommend using white vinegar instead of fabric softener-the smell dissipates as it dries.

  3. Sometimes it is caused by the fabric softener, both liquid and sheets.  Both have a petroleum base and it can transfer to some fabrics.
