Question:

Lately, the lights in my room have been flickering. Why might this be happening?

Before answering my question, take to mind that this hasn't been happening anywhere else in my house.

  1. There's a ghost in your room.

    In all honesty, it's probably just something to do with the fuse to that room. Or maybe the light bulb isn't in all the way?


  2. You could have an over-loaded circuit or bad wiring.  If it is more than one light, have your circuits checked for that room.  If it is just one, it may be that wiring.  

    Also, keep in mind that you should only have about 80% load on each circuit, and most 120V circuits are either 15 or 20 AMPS.  I would check to make sure that you don't have more than that on one circuit.

    To check to see what all is attached to the circuit, turn it off at the switch to see what goes off.

  3. I had a flickering light in one room and when the electrician tested all of the fixtures and plugs he found a faulty plug elsewhere on the circuit. I just wasn't there using the outlet and noticing the flicker.

  4. check the fuse box...or you need to change the light bulb
