You don't hear a voice, and you don't hear anything else, except a beep. Five seconds later, it beeps again and it does this over and over again until you hang up. Then, about 5-10 minutes, it rings again, and it's the same machine! It has been on my last nerves. We had to unplug the phone at one point. Any idea what it is and how to stop it? Thanks so much!

  1. It is most likely someone trying to fax something. They obviously dialed the wrong number. Unfortunately, fax machines continue to "try" the fax number several times before "giving up" and printing a "fax failed" report to the sender. Hopefully, they will double check the fax number and try again using the correct number. This happened to me on my cell phone. Since the "caller ID" showed the number where the fax was coming from I was able to send them a fax to the attention of: ANYONE to inform them of their error and to recheck the number. It worked!

  2. It means your phone is rigged with a bomb!

  3. A beep every 5 seconds mean it's recording!!!!!!!!
