Lately, why has De la Hoya been getting a lot of hate?

His performance with Mayweather wasn't THAT terrible (i mean it was the p4p king), he is not that old and his skills havent faded that much.

Probably the fact the pictures of him dressed in drag showed up online. Whether they were real or not, the bad publicity will not have done Oscar's reputation any favours. No doubt he'll come in for some verbal torture from Floyd because of it, when they are at the press conferences hyping their rematch.

He's in it for the money.  He has not been active enough to earn a shot at the championship against PBF.  Title shots should be for active fighters like Cotto.  I think he is taking some other fighters chance away.

Because he is the most rich and famous boxer since at least Sugar Ray Leonard- maybe even Ali. He is also now the #1 promoter. He isn't 'Mexican enough' for Mexican fans - meaning that they want him to walk around speaking spanish even though he is from LA. He is also very handsome, so guys hate him because girls love him.

In his last 12 fights he is 7 - 5.  No boxer who is 7-5 in their last 12 fights deserves a title shot.

Four of his last last 7 wins were against very outmatched opponents.

He has not won a meaningful fight since before 2000.

I used to be a big fan of his, but his love for money and his unwillingness to do what it takes to win a fight is turning a lot of fans off.

Hate is a strong term and often a wasted emotion.  I can unserstand some of the reasons people don't like Oscar.  One main reason is simple.   He's a boxer and I doubt you can name another boxer today who gains more attention than Oscar.   Given that, it stands to reason more people will love him and hate him.  You just tend to hear the haters more because haters generally whine about every little thing anyway.

Some of it is envy.  Some guy's girlfriend thinks Oscar's hot so he roots against Oscar everytime.  I've seen that many times.  

As a fight fan I dont like the way Oscar "Cuts in line".  I REALLY DON'T want to see a rematch with Mayweather.  I would MUCH rather see the FAR more deserving Miguel Cotto fight Floyd.  

I can't blame Floyd for taking the Oscar fight over Cotto.  He couldn't draw flies to an out-house without a name opponent no matter how much money and "bling-bling" he brags about.  Oscar means Less Risk and More Money.   He wins another close, boring decision, pockets a lot of money and convinces a few people HE made a wise business decision.  It's a lot better than getting your teeth knocked out for much less.  

Still, none the less,  many of the Oscar haters don't have real reasons for hating.  I like Oscar but I still would rather not see Floyd 2.  I would rather see Oscar fight Tito again and Floyd fight Miguel Cotto.

He says this every time he comes up short. I am still mad about the Parnell Whitaker fight Oscar got a boxing lesson. He has had to many chances to prove that he is the best and has yet to prove it.

People have been hating De La Hoya for as long as he has been popular. Everyone had a reason.

Fighters said he was too good looking. (Jealous of the attention he gets from girls, jealous that his defense skills kept his face intact.)

Champions hated him because he got all the attention, money, and fame even when losing.

Other champions hated being compared to him because they felt they were far better.

The media hates him because his boxing style won't allow for  Mike Tyson-style fights.

His opponents hated him because they lost to him after talking trash.

Other opponents hated him because he made more money during their fights despite being the challenger.

Promoters hate him for being smart enough to start his own promotion company instead of paying their excessive fees.

Contenders hate him because he won't fight them and make them rich.

Spectators hate him because he ran during the last 4 rounds of the Trinidad fight.

PPV buyers hate him because his fights don't live up to the hype.

Floyd probably hates him because De La Hoya gets more respect and makes more money, despite the fact that Floyd feels DLH has less natural talent.

Casual fans hated him for trying to sing in his own album.

Others hate him for having a somewhat feminine voice despite beating up plenty of other masculine guys.

Mexicans hate him because they don't consider him a real mexican and yet De La Hoya claims to be one.

Deep down, I think people are jealous of his status because they will never reach the achievements of DLH in boxing, wealth, star power, or life in general. Many people of minority ethnicities LOVE to put their own kind down to step on each other's accomplishments. De La Hoya is no exception. You will never see white people bag on a white fighter even if he is boring and sucks.

Because his heart isn't in boxing, it's only for the money. His last fight was nothing but "Dancing with the Stars". He runs away and cries foul because he doesn't get decisions when they used to give "wins" in bouts he actually lost. Also, that rape of an underage girl he got away with didn't help his popularity contest.
