Lately the update connection has failed on my AVG Free 8.0?

Question

It wont update, it says the connection failed...and I have no problem at all with my internet - seeing I can get on the net.. I don't know why it's doing this, it's been doing this since yesterday. It would usually always update itself upon startup on my laptop..but I get the box come up in the corning telling me the connection failed - whats up with it? is there something wrong? I can't stand seeing the AVG main window telling some components report an error and I may not be protected. How can I get the update manager to work again? like automatically update...

I don't want to download another security program for viruses...when I think I do, I will...I've used AVG for a while now, and it protected me well.. so please don't let me know to download a different security program because I am staying with AVG - I just need help with the update manager saying the connection failed, when my internet connection is running perfect..I don't know why it's doing this :S

HI they are having problems with updates this has to be fixed by them.

Hi dude,

          Even I had the same problem during updations.. Sometimes it updates itself and sometimes I used to update it manually.. Neway There is always a problem with AVG.. try to download Kaspersky Antivirus which is really superb and also very effective in clearing spam and virus...

After you download, google for key of it and am sure you can get one which will help you and am sure your pblm will be resolved and uninstall AVG once you download Kaspersky..

I was able to update AVG as follows after getting disconnected constantly.

Go to http://free.avg.com/ww.download-update and download all the updates to a folder.

Run AVG and go to tools > run update from directory.
