I have a Sealey (SM2502) mini milling machine. The lateral s***w feed on the x-y bed has developed a lot of play (about 1mm)...I can't see how to adjust it.Any advice? Thanks.

  1. Not sure on the machine m8 but does it have a gib strip on the side that may have came slack  so its not moving   in sink with the leadscrew or isit 1mm back lash from the leadscrew? which would sugest wear on the half nut?

  2. the mechanism is clear. just take the bed. & check the thightness of feeding nut , s***w , bearings ...

    don't fear to unassemble it.

  3. If the LATERAL s***w feed has developed a lot of play the only solution is to dismantle the mechanism and replace the worn phosphor bronze threaded bush.

The s***w itself is generally made of steel which will not wear out before the threaded bush.

If it is the whole table that exhibits play then adjust the gib strip at the side of the vee guides.
