Latest Italian Serie A News: Palermo for Sale

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini wants to sell Palermo
Maurizio Zamparini has threatened to sell Palermo and insists that he is fed up with football and wants to sell the club after his team lost to A.C Milan 3-1 at San Siro last night.
Palermo also feel hard done by and blame the referee and accused him of being biased in favour of Milan.
Palermo coach Delio Rossi shares the same opinion and is looking for a justifiable explanation for the 3-1 defeat.
“Tomorrow morning I will resign”, Zamparini said, “I am selling Palermo and I am leaving football definitively.”
Zamparini said that he has had enough and is tired of being a part of all these episodes and has taken his decision.
The Italian owner was definitely hurt by the result and seems really sure that the time is right for him to call it a day and wants to distance himself from the game and has declared Palermo up-for-sale.
He further added his disappointment at things happening in the game and said “I thought things had changed, but it’s still the same filth”.
Palermo coach angry at the referee after 3-1 defeat at Milan
Delio Rossi, coach of Palermo has blasted the referee for being biased towards Palermo after his side lost to Milan 3-1 at San Siro.
The coach of Milan Massimiliano Allergi also admitted of being fortunate with the referee.
Rossi further added that his team had played well but it was for nothing because after a few days, results would matter more than the performance.
The turning point of the controversial match came when A.C Milan’s Ambrosini was given a penalty when the play should have been stopped for a handball.
The result now takes Milan on top of Serie A standings after Lazio lost to Cesena 1-0.
Kevin Prince Boateng came back from suspension for A.C Milan but they were missing Andrea Pirlo who picked up a thigh injury in training. Ronaldinho was yet again dropped and veteran defender Alessandro Nesta was rested for the match.
Milan scored the first goal of the night when Clarence Seedorf’s corner was met by Alexandre Pato’s powerful header from seven yards. In the 56th minute, Palermo’s wonder kid, Javier Pastore picked up an injury and was replaced by Fabrizio Miccoli.
The Sicilians did get a deserved equalizer eventually when a poor defensive clearance was met by Bacinovic just outside the box and his shot bounced on its way to the bottom corner and the goalkeeper saw the ball late in a sea of legs.
In the 69th minute, Seedorf had two opportunities to put Milan in front but his first shot hit the upright and his follow-up header was well wide of goal.
The most controversial incident of the game came when Massimo Ambrosini was tripped by Sirigu and a penalty was awarded. Palermo were rightly unhappy with the decision as in the build-up to that incident, Ambrosini had handled the ball and went down too
easily. Zlatan Ibrahimovic stepped up to take the penalty and scored to restore his team’s lead.
Inzaghi fell awkwardly in the 70th minute and was replaced by Robinho after picking up a knock. The Brazilians’ introduction made an immediate impact as Ibrahimovic’s mesmerizing run ended in a pass to Robinho who scored the 3rd goal
for Milan in a simplest of tap-ins.
A.C Milan should have increased their lead to 4-1 in stoppage time but Robinho’s assist was not accurate and powerful enough to find Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the counter attacking move was wasted.
The result now puts A.C Milan on top of Serie A table for the first time this season; after Lazio suffered their second consecutive defeat at Cesena and are now two points behind the Milan giants. They are being followed closely by Juventus and Inter Milan.
