Naughty Dog are continuing to tease their upcoming post apocalyptic title, The Last of Us but this time the studio have shared a lot more in terms of the game’s details.
Triple-A titles are never a bad thing to be hearing about, especially if they are under development in studios such as Naughty Dog, which brought the world the benchmark setting Uncharted series. However, there is one thing that can top news of a triple-A title and that is a triple-A title that happens to be a new IP as well.
For those who have heard ‘IP’ before but are not quite sure what it stands for, IP is short for Intellectual Property and means a storyline or universe exclusive to a single studio. E.g. Halo was Bungie’s IP, Killzone 3 was Guerrilla Games’ IP, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception was Naughty Dog’s IP and so on.
So when it was revealed that Naughty Dog was behind the rather mysterious The Last of Us, the interest levels in the game spiked. Details were sparse and the studio remain rather tight lipped, yet in recent days they seem to have opened up about what gamers can expect from the game.
Starting things off with gameplay and it had been confirmed earlier that players would have to scavenge for weapons and that weapons would deteriorate over time. The latest buzz is that there will be firearms in the game as the screen shots and trailer showed, however ammunition would be scare.
At the same time it was also confirmed that most enemies would only take the one bullet to take down, which raises a few questions of its own.
As for the story, it was confirmed that the female character, Ellie, grew up in a military quarantine zone and had never seen the devastated world outside its confines.
As for the other character, well players will get to know him as Joel and is apparently a drug and weapons smuggler.
As for “ruin p**n”, there is no need to get reach the wrong conclusions as it is defined as “a type of photography centred around capturing images of ruins that have been overgrown by nature.” And is the style in which the game will be inspired visually.
