World number fifty six Alexandr Dolgopolov got the better of his seventh seed opponent Sergiy Stakhovsky from Ukraine in a two setter clash at the 2010 Kremlin Cup Men’s Singles Competition on Thursday. The final match score was
6-2, 7-6(4).
Both the contenders smashed a total of four aces each, however Alexandr prevented five of his six break point chances to get past his foe in Moscow. He won sixty five percent of service points to make his way into his third ATP
World Tour quarter final or better in 2010. His best performance this season was the semi final run at AEGON International in Eastbourne where he was eventually defeated at the hands of Michael Llodra. Sergiy on the other hand, as a result of this loss has

Meanwhile, Horacio Zeballos from Argentina prevented all three break point opportunities he faced to knock down Victor Crivoi, a qualifier from Romania, in two sets to advance in Moscow. The final match score was 7-5, 7-6(1). The

Zeballos who received the ATP Newcomer award of the year back in 2009, has triumphed in back to back clashes on the first occasion in his career since making his way into the semi final round in Houston back in April where he was
given a beating by Juan Ignacio Chela in straight sets.
In other action, James Blake, a wild card entrant from the United States of America posted a three setter victory over Matthias Bachinger from Germany, on Thursday at the If Stockholm Open Men’s singles competition. The final match
score was 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(2). Blake previously won the title in Sweden back in 2005 as well as 2006. The battle lasted for one hour and fifty minutes.
The former world number four American as a result of this victory has improved his career record to 15-1 at the ATP World Tour 250 indoor championship.
