G’day, I want to learn more about your country . . . .!

Out of your little ‘corner of the world’ what are the 5 BEST things about living there?

Also name 3 things you don’t like about it, or would want to change.

Thanks Mate

  1. I didn't know South Texas is in Latin America...

Well, hehe, I live in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Some of the things all mention are specific from my city and shouldn't be generalized to the whole Brazil that is maybe the most regionally diverse country in the world, some can be generalized.

I like (not nescessarilly in order of importance):

    1. The climate, my city is at 900m of altitude, so it's not as hot as other Brazilian cities like Rio de Janeiro. It's most part of the year, but a nice hot, not a insuportable hot. In the winter it makes a bit of cold, but nothing less than 8 C in the coldest nights.

    2. Our language (Portuguese)

    3. We Brazilians don't have enemies in the world. We're a pacific nation in foreign policy. Without counting the 2 World Wars where all the world got involved, the last time we were in war againt a foreing nation was in 1872.

    4. The city is beautiful in my opinion.

    5. We have a very good free and public universities, not the case of many countries (including developed countries).

    6. The people are beautiful, the ones of the middle and upper classes specially.

    Things I dislike

    1. Violence, many houses and residencial buildings have eletric fences surrounding them, just to you have an idea.

    2. Too many people begging.

    3. The uglyness and ignorance of our poorest (and majority) citizens, who are unable to vote in decent politicians.

  2. For me,  being a Latin American is a blessing and honor. I know 2 languages, and know about the culture of Mexico, as well as the history of the United States. I am glad to know both these countries which I love and are my home. Where I live in South Texas, almost everyone's hispanic. I love it here because everyone speaks spanish and we speak Spanglish. I dont know if youve heard of it but we speak English and Spanish mixed. For example, "Quiero ir a la beach". "La bell ya va a sonar". It is pretty fun lol. I love it here because people are so warm and we all are fellow mexicans and are right on the border to mexico and we go to mex and come back whenever we want. I also love it here because its not cold in winter. The lowest it can get is like 40 degrees, and it never snows and people here wear shorts during winter. It is fun to be in a snowy place. I was in Alaska last time and loved it, but to live, i dont think so, i guess im used to warm temperatures ;)

By the way there's also lots of White people here and they are so warm and nice ;) Lots of Winter Texans come here during winter from up north because they enjoy summer like temperatures during winter ;)

  3. Well, I'm proud to call myself a Salvadorian or Salvadoran (you can say it either way), and it's nice to know to languages. The best five things about El Salvador are as follows:

    1.  people own stores in their homes so you can go to a market right across the street.

    2. everyone is friendly and get along great.

    3. it's warm all year, it can get a little chilly

    4. the food is great

    5. the landscape and nature. All the mountains and volcanoes are great and the fact that almost everyone owns an animal (cat, dog, duck, cow, chicken, turkey)

    the least greatest things are:

    1. it can get too hot.

    2. the homes aren't as great as they are  in the US (no air conditioning or hot water)

    3. half the year, this place is filled to the brim with tourists

  4. Well, first at all, you have to consider Latin America involves a huge quantity of countries. Even I know lot of them, I am going to answer you about living in Peru, my native country.

    3 Things that could change:
