I am really very much interested in latin american dances. But I always was wondering does it always come as couple dances or it has a side of single dances too, like you can dance latin american alone??. If so , do you know any web site who gives you basic steps for free??.

thanks a lot

  1. In competition you have to have a partner but there are some steps that the couple does individually.

Lots of studios have formation teams or performance groups, often most of the dancing is done individually.

There is a world famous ballroom and latin stage show called Burn the Floor, a lot of their scenes are individaul dancing

  2. It is really much more fun to do the latin dances with a partner.  Some of them have certain moves/steps that you can do on your own, but it is really meant to be danced by a couple.  Tango, rhumba, for example, you really can't do on your own.  If you look up ballroom dancing in your area, you could probably go and watch a class and see if you could dance any of it on your own.  I really wouldn't, because a big part of this type of dance is the man leading the lady.
