The former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund manager is afraid of the tussle between the two personalities as he believes the duo are too familiar, and said that the current issue is a structural not a one-off problem.
The retired boss Udo Lattek feels that the clash between Bayern Munich current coach Jupp Heynckes and sporting director Matthias Sammer is going to get worsened in the near future. The 77-year-old claimed that the two club officials
cannot work as a team as both are too individualistic in nature.
The veteran trainer admitted that the problem is not an isolated incident and can cause further issues in the course of the current campaign. The athletic supervisor blasted Bayern publicly which was met with harsh criticism from
Heynckes. Moreover, Lattek suggested that the duo are too selfish to listen to each other.
Lattek said that the relationship will suffer more with time as they are both too dominant to work in a positive manner. He stated that they cannot be blamed as this quality is a must for any manager in order to be successful.
"It is to be expected that there will be more trouble in the not too distant future. Sammer and Heynckes are both selfish people, something that's crucial for a coach," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Nevertheless, he maintained that both people have their own agenda and will not sacrifice it for the other. He said that it will be shocking to see their partnership last longer than a few months, although, Lattek is hoping they
will reconcile. Finally, he added that it can also result in a positive way.
"However, normally, this situation will not work for too long. They are both alpha-males who want things to go their way,” the former Bayer Leverkusen striker added.
"It would surprise me if things did not go wrong shortly. I really hope this will not happen, though. There's still plenty of time to repair all of this," the 1974 European Champions Cup Winner finally concluded.
Bayern played their UEFA Champions League game in mid-week and will be ready to play Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena over the weekend.
