Laudrup’s unit, who finished eleventh in their debut EPL season last term, currently hold the tenth spot in the table after 20 matches. The team have already put up some impressive displays against the division’s big guns in the ongoing campaign.
Nonetheless, the Liberty Stadium chief feels that the outcomes in January will have a profound effect on season’s achievements at the end of the term.
The 48-year old Dane revealed that the entire squad was wary of the importance of the current month, but urged them to take it one game at a time.
“We know how important the next month is for us,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“We have lots of games, lots of big games and it’s fun, yes, but I know – and the players know – it is a very important period. What you do now is decisive for how your season has gone.”
Swansea ran away with all three points from their visit of Craven Cottage last week, and will be up against a Villa side on Tuesday which has shipped 15 goals in their previous three matches.
On paper, the fixture might appear to be a lopsided one, but Laudrup refused to look it that way. The manager warned his side not to fall into the trap of complacency, as things can change rapidly in the Premier League.
“I think Villa are a fantastic example of how quick things change. Now they have lost three in a row. We did that. We had a fantastic start to the season then lost some games. But they can come up again,” he added.
