Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Vorm-c25482 remains to be his first-choice goalkeeper, despite Gerhard Tremmel’s recent sublime form.
The Dutch International suffered a groin injury in October and has since not made a single appearance for the South http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 club.
In his absence, the manager handed over the gloves to the understudy shot-stopper, Tremmel. The 34-year old played an important hand in the Swans resurgence over the last couple of weeks, which saw them compile a six-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.
Vorm is expected to attain full fitness by the mid of December, but now faces a tough task of reclaiming him regular slot.
Nonetheless, despite the recent heroics of Tremmel, the Liberty Stadium boss unearthed that the Dutchman will take over the charge of goal as soon he completes his recovery.
The 48-year old pointed out that Vorm has remained a consistent performer for the Swans for many months now, and replacing him with someone who has just capped a couple of games would be a folly.
“I am of the opinion that if somebody proves himself over a long period of time, he still deserves to be No.1 even after four or five games out,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“It's difficult to say they are not playing after a little spell out, and I think Michel has shown here that he is No.1.”
Despite expressing his faith in Vorm, Laudrup could not help put praise the impact that Tremmel has made over a brief period of time.
The manager admitted that his phenomenal performance in the 29-year old’s truancy will create a healthy competition for the goalkeeper’s slot. He also said that no player in the team can take his place for granted and that performance will always precede
reputation.
“I am very happy with what Gerhard has been doing… you cannot stand still as a player. What Gerhard has done has put pressure on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453, and that's good for the team,” he added.
Swansea will next take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 at the Emirates Stadium in a league match on Saturday.
