Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, is thinking about how to deal with Ki Sung-Yueng’s absence, ahead of his side’s game against Newcastle United on Saturday.
The South http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 outfit’s 5.5 million pounds signing is currently nursing a hamstring injury and is set to miss out on the visit to the Sports Direct Arena.
His absence has further depleted the Dane’s options, who has already been made to deal with scores of injuries in the squad since taking over the Liberty Stadium throne in June.
The Swans occupy the eleventh slot in the table after 11 games. However, they were a bit rusty in their previous match against Southampton, struggling to get any kind of foothold and were made to draw on their defences. Still, they managed to squeeze out
a draw.
Since the team’s attack has been amputated further by the injury to Ki, it has left Laudrup pondering over his options for the Newcastle game on Saturday.
The Swansea boss admitted of having a selection headache and hinted at tinkering with his formation in order to deal with the predicament.
“We know Ki is not going to play so we have to decide what to do with the team,” he told the reporters.
“Do we just put one in instead of him or do we change things round in midfield and up front?”
Laudrup’s men prefer to play attacking football, but were forced to go into their shells last week to weather a storm of attacks by the Saints forwards.
The manager feels that his side will need to come up with a different strategy if they are faced with a similar situation in the future.
He underlined that at times, the best form of defence is to attack, and he would look to add an extra striker or two to unsettle the tempo of the game.
“Sometimes people will say that if you are under pressure, you should put in more defensive players, but I think the other way round. I think if you are under pressure you can put another striker on to change the balance,” he added.
