Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, feels that it was about time that the FA pressed for the goal-line technology in the Premier League, in order to minimize the element of controversy from the game.
The debate of the use of technology to help the match officials was rekindled all over again on Saturday, when Everton were denied a goal by the linesman, Ceri Richards.
Victor Anichebe’s header had clearly crossed the goal line, but the assistant referee failed to spot it.
The decision proved to be costly for the Merseysiders, as a late http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 equalizer forced them to settle for a single point.
The discussion surrounding the use of technology also hit the peak last season, after the FA Cup semi-final between http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Tottenham Hotspur.
During the game, the Blues were awarded a goal by the linesman, who wrongly adjudicated one of the shots to have crossed the line.
After the Goodison Park boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes, called upon the FA to introduce state of the art equipment to aid the referees, Laudrup also stepped in the debate, endorsing the Scott’s demand.
The Dane insisted that it was only a matter of time before the FA are compelled to agree to the use of technology. Hence, they might as well do it right now.
“Every time I see a 'goal' like that — and it happens two or three times a year in every country — I say the same thing,” he told the reporters.
“We are living in an era where we have technology, we have the new iphone, the ipad and computers, and in tennis for years they have used technology for decisions on the line.”
The Welsh club will go head to head against Everton on Saturday at the Liberty Stadium.
Laudrup was disappointed to see the Toffees get denied in rather unfortunate circumstances, despite being the better of the two teams.
He urged FIFA to take measures in this regard as soon as possible, as it will serve to limit the refereeing errors.
“It happened to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 on Monday, it could be us next week or another team. It keeps on happening, so why not do something about it?” he added.
