Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup praised the attacking duo of Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge for executing his new playing approach upfront to perfection, in their opening league game against QPR.
The Welsh club hammered the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 5-0 at the Loftus Road Stadium, in a match in which Dyer scored a brace.
The Dane, who took over the reins of the club in June from Brendan Rodgers, had earlier made public his intentions of altering his wingers’ role. Instead of making their runs down the line, he asked them to cut inside more, in order to launch more direct
attacks.
To ensure that the idea worked, Laudrup entrusted the responsibility on the club’s senior pair, who have now been at the Liberty Stadium for quite some time, and made a surprise decision of dropping http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scott-Sinclair-c32675 from his starting-eleven.
Given that the move bore immediate fruits, the 48-year old is expected to go with the same strategy against West Ham United in their next game on Saturday.
Anyhow, Laudrup hailed the duo for effectively executing his plans against Queens Park Rangers. He also revealed that Sinclair’s omission from the starting line-up had nothing to do with his transfer links to Manchester City, and the move was solely tactical.
He told the reporters in an interview, “It was great to see. Wayne made two, Nathan scored two, but most important was they showed they understand what we want from them. People asked about Scott not being in the starting XI – it was nothing to do with the
interest from Manchester City.”
The manager also pointed out that both, Dyer and Routledge, were small in size, and can wreak havoc with opponents’ defences with their coruscating speed and agility.
“They showed it so well and it is important for us, they are small and can turn with the ball so fast they are poison for the opponent,” he added.
However, the former Mallorca boss called upon his side to bring to a halt the celebrations of their first ever win at the Loftus Road Stadium, and quickly turn their focus on their next fixture.
He further said it was pertinent that they gain maximum out of their home games this season, and hoped they will have the boisterous support of the fans all the way.
