Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, has hailed his team’s performance against Sunderland on Saturday, and felt that they played better than their opening two league games.
The Welsh club managed to overcome all the odds to secure a 2-2 draw against the Black Cats at the Liberty Stadium, which kept them at the second place in the league table.
Earlier, the Swans secured comprehensive wins over Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 (5-0) and West Ham United (3-0) to get their Premier League campaign off to a flyer.
They now have 7 points from their first three matches.
However, Laudrup’s men were stretched to the fullest on Saturday. They were hit by an early set back, as Neil Taylor went off the field after fracturing his ankle close to the quarter-hour mark.
They then trailed twice in the fixture, but bounced back on both the occasions through Wayne Routledge and Michu.
In the 71st minute, the home side were reduced to ten men, after Chico Flores picked up a straight red card for his high boot challenge on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Louis-Saha-c22459.
Despite all the impediments, the Swans managed to squeeze out a draw and could have even gone on to claim the victory, as they dominated the proceedings in the final quarter of the game.
The Dane went into raptures about his team’s fighting spirit, and felt that their performance at the weekend was so far their best this season.
He told the reporters in an interview, “We have played four games, if you include the Capital One Cup, but this was the most important match for me as manager.”
“We lost Neil early in the game with a serious injury, then the first time we made a mistake, the first time we allowed them near our goal, they scored.”
“We played great football in the second half and finally created things to come back again, but then we had a man sent off and you are wondering what will happen.”
The 48-year old was also in awe for Ben Davies for filling in the void of Taylor, and believed that he was instrumental in helping them bag a result out of the game.
