Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup believes his side still needs to improve in a lot of areas, despite their startling start to the season.
The Welsh team bludgeoned Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 5-0 in their opener at Loftus Road Stadium, and continued with their remarkable form against West Ham United, by securing a 3-0 win on Saturday.
Angel Rangel, Michu and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Graham all got on the score sheet, as a dominant display from the Swans saw them claim the second spot in the league table.
So far, Laudrup’s men have fired in 8 goals, and are yet to concede a single one.
The Dane admitted he was surprised to see his side get off to such a strong start, but felt there was still a lot of room for improvement.
Even though they managed to hold on to a clean sheet against the Hammers, the former Mallorca boss opined his team were guilty of committing some defensive errors – something which will result in them getting punished on some other day.
“It would be easy for me to just say, ‘That’s great’. Last week we defended too deep and this week we gave away too many free-kicks and corners. One day that will cost us,” he told the reporters in an interview.
Swansea finished the last season at an impressive eleventh place under former boss, Brendan Rodgers, winning scores of admirers for their eye-catching fluent passing football.
Although Laudrup plans on continuing with the same model, he has done a bit of a tinkering with the role of his wingers. Instead of playing them wider, he has asked them cut inside more, in order for them to mount more direct attacks on goal.
The move was welcomed by the striker, Graham, who felt it had bolstered their offence considerably, and will provide them with more goal scoring opportunities.
He said, “Last season we were guilty of not creating enough chances but we’ve started this campaign on fire. Michael gives us a lot of confidence to go forward and express ourselves in the final third.”
Swansea will take on Barnsley in a Carling Cup fixture on Tuesday, and will later play host to Sunderland on Saturday in a league match.
